A Bloomfield Hills Home Transformation: From Closet to Sauna Sanctuary
This renovation project in Bloomfield Hills perfectly illustrates a commitment to health and wellness. What was once a lightly used second-story closet, conveniently situated between a home gym and a full bathroom, has been dramatically transformed into a dedicated, in-home wellness retreat. The homeowner, a Metro Detroit neurosurgeon with a professional understanding of daily sauna therapy's clinical benefits, sought a space for recovery, rejuvenation, and unwinding. Today, this former afterthought is the family's favorite room, a sauna sanctuary that allows them to fully embrace the sauna lifestyle.
Expert Craftsmanship: Navigating Structural Surprises
Older homes often hide the unexpected behind the walls. During the demolition of the original sauna, we uncovered several structural challenges and surprises behind the drywall. Our expert installers leveraged our craftsmanship and problem-solving skills to skillfully address these surprises resulting in a dramatic transformation and breathing new life into the space.
Creating a Luxurious and Authentic Sauna Experience in Bloomfield Hills
The room's unique angled ceiling, far from being a constraint, contributed to a distinctive and appealing aesthetic. The rich, natural character of the Western Red Cedar interior, combined with an integrated lighting system, successfully created a luxurious spa atmosphere.
For optimal performance, we carefully selected and installed the Finnish-made Iki Wall Short heater. This premium heater was chosen based on the room size, ceiling height, and layout, offering sleek design, exceptional durability, and an intense löyly (steam) experience thanks to its deep rock mass.
As this custom project illustrates, achieving an authentic and enjoyable sauna experience requires careful planning and consideration of every detail - from the heater and wood selection to the lighting and ventilation - to ensure all components work together seamlessly.
