Charlevoix Boathouse Sauna

As this custom project illustrates, achieving an authentic and enjoyable sauna experience requires careful planning and consideration of every detail - from the heater and wood selection to accent lighting and ventilation - ensuring all components work together seamlessly.

On the Lake Michigan shoreline in beautiful Charlevoix, MI, this Sauna Bath Co custom designed and hand built outdoor sauna is built to blend in with the timeless beauty of a historic boathouse. 

The exterior cedar shake siding matches the rich aesthetics of the boathouse and the bank of large windows open up to the million dollar views of the lake from the sauna. 

Inside, the wood-fired sauna stove crackles and flames dance, increasing the sensory experience. The spacious interior opens up enough seating on the benches to host a crew of family and friends for a social sauna. A moveable stool provides a step to get up on the benches but also opens up enough floor space to do yoga in the warmth of the sauna. A railing and footrest incorporated into the bench front of the stove provides both safety and a comfortable sitting position with feet resting on top.  

From dimming the lights and enjoying an unplugged evening of relaxation to a sauna full of laughter and deep conversations while running back and forth from the lake to the sauna, this sauna will provide memories and experiences for decades to come for all ages.
